Think you know cross bones? Pah, I'm wearing cross eyes Half brained hooligan gone crawling with the moon rise That new-type elegance, though I may spit my coat do shine Though I may trick, though I may slip, not a thought do leave my mind And my Footsteps do clatter on the cobbles Last night's stunt brings a limp and a hobble Quick-eyed runt takes a stint in a puddle We sprint, trip, scramble through a mountain of rubble And Sometimes I grow tired of smooth-shell streets So I search for them flights that lead down deep I take dips in the pits that are hundreds of old I gotta tuck in the wings for the width of them homes Fossilised domiciles silent of sound Roam the rough-rock tunnels that twist right down Back to the topside nest with the treasures I found I got a room like the rest – pace the clay round and round A Round and round and round and round and round and I take my time I stroll the crowd head down our Smoky rooms abound and sounding out see The market town is surging all around me Curse lies deep in the clay, feel it while the dark beats down in the day. Watch from the rooftops where floors lay in wait ugh Saw an old face like I thought that they knew ya And we hunker wherever the body fits Refrain take life 'cause we all get that gist Lantern on belt, on hook, in teeth, uh Meal come smell, picture crackle of meat Big life, like lightning, like energy Like big life, like lightning, like energy Like big life, like big life Big life, we stacked it up Like big life, drew conduits Like energy, and it pours out And big life, now rivers down Don’t you feel your heart bracing Don-Don’t you feel your nerves racing For the fall for the sink into pavement For the pulling yourself into evasion Hot black air – I’m tracing Light-Light ekes lines through casing of thick dark veils displaced in inward swirls I tremor, I gather, I trace it [Instrumental] Shelter here where it's warm on the intern Couple measures below the tiles of the ground turf Muffled footsteps a strike-n-clat of no concern In the dim glow, faces to the downturn <Yelp> Dah nah ticki-no diki-do aeh Sah-sik yan sey don doh shicka Noh aye famana ba dey yoh aeh-a Ah tah sik chayn-sah Recke-nah Nn toh huey yauh Dey, Dehr, Ga-don, Dehr, Dehr, Dehr Firework - Heap City with the increment lift Metal girder with the kids on, hanging on it Heads raised to the light, Bunch on each other Slow haze, crowd about, sweat to the gutter And weird hive, weird hive, weird big hive And Rim light, rim light, Climb up high Look at it Grooves and lights Way too big Green-tile pools, shuttered, dig Clustered rooms, cloistered, rig Airborne mood, crawling, slick Composite sound, porous, dip We run the stacks, we skid the tiles, Covered in curtains, feel out patterns, arching spine, please It don’t retreat, it don’t comply, it don’t deplete, Amongst the stacks it flits Big life Big life <Laugh>

about

The Charango (Track 5); Gamelan (Track 2); Shamisen & Biwa (Track 4); and Tabla (Track 7) are traditional instruments of Andean, Indonesian, Japanese and Hindustani cultures respectively. These instruments have deep cultural and historical significance. They must not be ripped from their contexts.

Unour is a supercontinent in the very, very distant future. Humans are a long time gone, and so are the histories that came after them. The landmass is varied, and the soil is crackling with energy. The long arm of history is felt in the commonality of aberrant events: Things spark into existence, spark out of it, shift, warp. Nature has a new tendency to strange geometries. There is life everywhere - some sapient. Tributaries run nets through foliage and flats. Reactive minerals lace the soil. Long, slick creatures drape over rocky outcrops. A single eye peers from behind matted fur. A wagon is heaved through long grass. Holes and hills jut and pile. Stone monoliths steep in humid warmth. A big black band rings the sun. Dragonfly buzzing rides atop wind. Smoke pours from an igneous crack. Mists roll over. Rain clouds follow. A claw clenches dirt. A spine arches toward sky. The air twists in on itself. Energy crackles.

01.
A massive plane of grey clay, obscured by haze, is host to flickering pockets of spatial, gravitational and dimensional aberrance. A large, gourd-like engine lies semi-dormant, its insides ticking over behind a smooth shell. It is waking up, and it is sending a signal.

02.
A river overflows milky, saline water down through pools nested in a steep white-chalk cliff face. Heated by the sun, the liquid plays host to thick, green stems, sleek eels, chittering water-walkers and swift dragonfly variants. Bronze-plated thermal creatures magnetically hover centimetres above the chalk, venting blasts of steam and staring at the fish.

03.
A silver-invisible signal arcs its way across tall reeds and soft, muddy soil by a verdant river system. It reaches semi-clay android Daba, and acid-green energy breaches a seal within its chest. Partially encased in dirt, its body begins to judder back into life, long, whip-like arms reconfiguring.

04.
A mountainous pile of haphazardly clustered mud, rock and tile houses hunker over an ancient energy source. In upper reaches, permanently wreathed in thick, black, sunlight-blocking smog, a city of assorted beings live in and out of steamy rooms, building Nautilus upwards. Amongst them, the rowdy, crow-like biped Gaw wanders and bruises in cobblestone alleys.

05.
A dark, still pool mirrors blackness, steeping in the heart of a weeks-long eclipse. Quick, angular fish dart amongst larger, languid, stone-plated siblings. Pin-prick bioluminescence blinks, drifts, flickers and hides in the water. Suspended clouds of vapour shift through the landscape, pushing down in a gravity-high heaviness.

06.
Black steel microorganisms make up an amorphous magma creature which skulks and lurches through a landscape of sharp obsidian and swirling, airborne ash. Massive inverted-cone pits intermittently bore into the terrain, thin paths winding down, corewards, along their outmost edge.

07.
Charged soil-minerals are catalysed by the particulate gratings of a small, ornate container. Atmosphere begins to whine and coil, gleaming arcs sparking in the air. Gravity forms sudden wells that rupture and burst outwards. Dirt swirls into intricate shapes. Latent charges explode, pressure cracks and jets. Searing light soars upwards.

This project was made on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, the lands of the Taungurung people of the Kulin nation and the lands of the Bunurong people of the Kulin nation. I pay my respects to their elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.
